Abstract

Children with intellectual disabilities have intellectual limitations that make them vulnerable to becoming victims of sexual violence due to a lack of understanding regarding personal body boundaries. This study aims to determine the effect of using animated video media on sexual education knowledge in children with intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Sragen. The research approach used is quantitative with a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 10 fourth-grade students with intellectual disabilities selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using an oral test that had been tested for content validity using Aiken's V formula and reliability using KR-20 (ri = 0.473). The results showed a significant increase in children's sexual education knowledge scores after being given an intervention (treatment) using animated video media. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of animated video media has a significant positive effect on increasing the sexual education knowledge of children with intellectual disabilities. This media is effective in transforming abstract materials surrounding self-protection into concrete visuals that are easily understood by children with special needs.
